Thomas Austin Charles

Thomas Austin Charles, 90, of N. NC Hwy 150, Lexington died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 in Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at Reeds Baptist Church with Revs. Phillip Brooks and Henry Watterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Hwy 150. Mr. Charles was born September 25, 1923 in Davidson County to Thomas Roscoe Charles and Gurla Broadway Charles. He was a member of Reeds Baptist Church and a retired employee of Dixie Furniture after 43 years of service. Mr. Charles was a US Army veteran having served overseas during WWII. Preceding him in death was his wife, Elsie Myers Charles, two great grandchildren, Jessica Wilson and Joshua Wilson, and two sisters, Cornelia Allen and Lucy Louya. Surviving are a son, Quentin Charles (Ava) of Lexington; a daughter, Myra Charles of Lexington, NC; four grandchildren, Annette Barnes, Julie Wilson, Tonya Baity, Natalie Charles; five great grandchildren, Jacob Barnes, Jordan Barnes, Matthew Baity, Mason Baity, and Raymond “Rambo” Banks.
