Thomas Gene Davis

Thomas “Gene” Eugene Davis, 83, of Timberbreak Drive went to be with the Lord Saturday June 13, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.

A service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Pastor, with Preacher Elliot Smith conducting services.

Mr. Davis was born May 20, 1937 in Caldwell County to Thomas Esker Davis and Myrtle Mae O’Neal Davis. He worked at Bahnson for years. After attending several services at the old Gospel Light Baptist Church building, he gave his life to the Lord. He was the adult Sunday School teacher at Gospel Light for many years before receiving the call to become the Pastor of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Tyro, North Carolina. He faithfully served as pastor there for almost 39 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend, but most importantly, he loved his Lord. He never failed to share the gospel anywhere he went. He gave out more gospel tracts than we will probably ever know on this earth. Before his death, his only concern was for his family and for the harvest of souls still unaware of the gospel. His legacy will live on through the many souls saved throughout his ministry. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Joan Mankins and Bonnie McGee.

Surviving is his wife, of 42 years, Joan Yvonne Brown Davis; four sons, Ronald Eugene Davis (Kimberly) of Virginia, Seth Thomas Davis (Amber) of Belews Creek, Nathan Whitfield (Kaela) of Charlotte and John Paul Davis of Lexington; and 3 grandchildren, Greyson, Alexa, and Ashlyn.
