Thomas Charles Ix, passed away on December 25, 2008, at Lexington Health Care.
A mass of the resurrection will be at Our Lady of the Rosary with Father Albert Gondek officiating at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Interment will be at 10 a.m. December 31, 2008, at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville, VA.
Born June 21, 1930, in Charlottesville, Va., he was the son of the late Frank Joseph Ix Jr., and Alice Durrschmidt Ix. Mr. Ix was an executive at Frank Ix and Sons and retired after nearly 30 years of employment. He was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy, Staunton, Va., and studied at Belmont Abbey College and North Carolina State University. He was a United States Army veteran in Company C 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division in 1951. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Lexington, and The Catholic Church of the Holy Comforter in Charlottesville, Va. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Alicia Ix McCrory, James D. Ix, Maxine Ix Tyler and Jerome A. Ix Sr.
Surviving him are his loving wife of 52 years, Marlene Parks Ix of the home; daughters, Linda Ix Head and husband, Charles Phillip Head Jr., of Greer, S.C., Peggy Ix Johnson and husband, James Thomas Johnson Sr., of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren, Charles Phillip Head III, Thomas Caleb Head, Margaret Marylinn Head, James Thomas Johnson Jr., and Charles Henderson Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Tori and Lizzi Head; one brother, Frank J. Ix of Creskill, N.J.; brothers-in-law, James S. Parks of Charlottesville, Va. and Robert P. Tyler Jr. of Vero Beach, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at Davidson Funeral Home.
