Thomas Harrington Riggs Sr.

Thomas Harrington Riggs, Sr., 86, of Western Blvd., died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell 3rd and Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the funeral home and other times at the home. Mr. Riggs was born September 16, 1924, in Shawnee County, Ok., to Thomas Clinton Riggs and Pattye Copper Riggs. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He attended Oklahoma City University and was a salesman for J&S Trucking. He was a member First Baptist Church of Lexington and Triad Transportation Association. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilena Key. Surviving are his wife, Betsy Dickerson Riggs of the home; sons, Thomas H. Riggs Jr. of Lexington, and Jack C. Riggs and wife, Debra, of Decatur, GA.; grandchildren, Madison Riggs, Chris Riggs, Charles Riggs, and Christina Riggs; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Zella VanBuren of Oklahoma City, Ok.
