Thurman Ray Johnson Sr.

Thurman Ray Johnson Sr., 88 of Lexington, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at his home.

A private service will be held and livestreamed in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel.  entombment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Thurman was born on June 8, 1931 in Davidson County to Portland Ray Johnson and Jessie Perryman Johnson. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mocksville. Thurman was a retired supervisor with Link Taylor and was retired from the National Guard. His love was spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thurman Ray Johnson Jr.;  and daughter, Sheila Gail Johnson, and a grandson; Cody James Gordon, also preceding is his sisters; Wanda Gainey and Colleen Vance.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bessie McIntyre Johnson, of the home; daughters, Lisa Ann Jones, and Karen Berrios (Daniel) both of Winston Salem, Darlene Mathis of Lexington; sister, Shelby Everhart of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Joey Johnson, Tim Gordon, Jackie Johnson Ortiz, Ashely Scott, Jay Jones, Chris Jones, Cody Wallace and 6 great-grandchildren.
