Thurman Andrew Nichols

Thurman Andrew Nichols, age 76 of Warf Road, Lexington passed away Wednesday night (7-29-2009) at his home.  He had been in declining health for six years and seriously ill for six weeks.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday (8-1-2009) at Pilgrim Reformed Church with Rev. Barry Surratt officiating.  Burial will be private.   Thurman was born in Campbell County, Virginia, April 28, 1933 to Luther E. Nichols and Scottie Roberson Nichols. He was a retired employee of PPG and a member of Pilgrim Reformed Church.  A veteran of the US Navy serving his Country for 13 years and fought in the Korean War from 1951 until 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jimmy Nichols.   Surviving are; wife, Maxine Hege Nichols of the home; one daughter, Betty T. Moore and husband Glenn of Eden, NC; two step-daughters, Debra Day and husband Mike of Lexington and Cindy Matthews of Cary, NC; one step-son, Dennis Lee Brock and wife Janette of Lexington; two grandchildren, Sandy Seacat and husband Anthony of Stoneville, NC and Sheri Patterson and husband Charles of Eden, NC; four great-grandchildren, Stacy, Tony and Cassie Seacat and Jordan Patterson; seven step-grandchildren, Aaron and Allison Day, Taylor and Alex Brock, Beth and Brock Bailey and Brianne Matthews; three sisters, Paula Walden of Rusburg, VA and Faye Dalton husband Aubrey and Regina Keesee all of Altavista, VA; two step-sisters, Betty Koonts of Welcome and Harriet Robbins Winston Salem; step-brothers, Wayne Nichols, Billy Nichols and Luther Nichols, Jr. all of Lexington; two nephews, Wayne Walden and Mike Keesee.  The family would like to thank Sherrie, Tammy, Jennifer and all the nurses who help care for him and pastor Fred.   The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service on Saturday.   The family request NO FLOWERS, and memorials be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 512 Klumac Road, Salisbury, NC  28144 or to Pilgrim Reformed Church, History Room Fund, 797 Pilgrim Church Road, Lexington, NC  27295     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
