Lexington, NC — Thurston Blair Crouse, known affectionately to all as Blair, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after his journey with dementia.
Born in High Point, North Carolina, Blair built an early foundation for a life defined by faith, family, and community. He graduated from High Point Central, attended Lees-McRae College, and earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from UNC Charlotte. He later made his home in Lexington and New London, NC.
Throughout his professional life, Blair brought a mindset of dedication and integrity to his work. After starting his career at CPP, Inc., he partnered with his family at DeeMac Properties, and pursued several other entrepreneurial ventures. Beyond his career, he was a lifelong follower of Christ and a faithful member of Beck's Reformed Church, where he humbly served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and mentor to many. He proudly served on various boards including Nazareth Child and Family Connection and United Way of Davidson County. An enthusiastic Tar Heel and Charlotte 49ers fan, Blair could always be found passionately watching hoops.
Blair was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Crouse and Lucy Crouse, as well as his father-in-law, Ralph Burkhart and his sister-in-law, Kathy Burkhart.
Above all, Blair’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Carol Burkhart Crouse. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his three sons, William (Joy), Daniel (Jessie), and Michael (Ashley); and his six precious grandchildren, Griffin, Lucy, Hudson, Caroline, Collins, and Palmer, who brought endless light to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings, Irvin Crouse (Ada Mae) and Betsy Clapp (Jerry); his mother-in-law, Imojean Burkhart; his brothers-in-law, Martin Burkhart (Tami) and Kenly Burkhart; along with numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins across the Crouse, McNeely, Burkhart and Cox families.
A service to celebrate Blair’s life and faith will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at 11 AM at Beck's Reformed Church, 2845 Beck’s Church Rd., Lexington, NC. The family will receive friends and family after the service in the Beck’s Church Praise Center.
The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors, Brookdale Assisted Living, and Alderwood of Davidson County for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Blair’s memory may be made to Alderwood of Davidson County or Nazareth Child and Family Connection.
