After several months of declining health, Timothy “Griff” Charles Griffin, 65, made his escape from this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, who ultimately helped him to “get the hell outta here,” on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
Tim was born on March 2, 1959 to Frank and Nancy (Fritts) Griffin in Lexington, NC. Tim worked as a heavy equipment operator for Blythe Construction before his illness.
He is survived by his caring and dedicated wife, Liza (Simerson) Griffin; beloved daughter, Misty; sons, Kenny and Eric Griffin; stepdaughters, Chenoa Brown (Matthew) and Kea Killeen (Eric); grandchildren, Ivy Burleson, Gavin Burleson, Damon Brown, and Hendrix Griffin; great-grandchild, Esme Sain; sister, Debbie Lanning; brother, Ritchie Griffin; niece, Michelle Martin; nephew, Blake Griffin; great niece, Samantha Hunt; great nephew, Chase; great-great nephews, Jackson and Kadence; and his cherished dog, Festus.
Tim’s loved ones who preceded him in death include his parents, Frank and Nancy; brother, Roger Griffin; sister, Karen Everhart; and niece, Jamie (Lanning) Hunt.
There will be a service and celebration of life on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at Sonlight Baptist Church in Lexington, with pastor Scott Steed presiding the service, for those wishing to pay respect and share the many memorable, and often hilarious, stories of Tim and his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington in his memory.
Tim was a natural storyteller, a jokester, and a loving husband, father, and pawpaw. During his life, you could find him by the river or on the lake fishing, narrating The Andy Griffith Show or Gunsmoke while eating popcorn with the grandchildren and dogs, or just sharing his comical life stories to get a smile or laugh. He will be forever missed but loved and remembered always in our hearts.
