Tip Cross

Tip Cross, beloved father, husband, and son, 39, of Nottingham Drive, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in Salisbury. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church by Pastor Billy Sloop and Rev. Edgar L. Armfield Jr. Mr. Cross was born June 29, 1968 in Davidson County to Bobby Lee Cross and Lola Morgan Cross. He was owner/operator at Cross Creek Nursery; a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple; and Nurseryman Association. He was a mentor for the Co-op children at Central Davidson and West Davidson High Schools for 10 years. His father preceded him in death. In addition to his mother of Lexington he is survived by his wife of 16 years, Debbie Cross; daughter, Whitley Cross of the home; son, Taylor Cross of the home; stepson, Scott Rumley II of Lexington; brother, Bobby Dale Cross; sister, Pam Potts and husband, Greg; niece, Kelly Nagel of Lexington and Paige Huffman of Windermere, Fl.; and nephew, Andrew Cross of Rhode Island. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home. A scholarship fund for underprivileged children has been established at the bank of North Carolina in memory of Tip.
