David Thomas “Tom” Fritts III, 79, of City Lake Road, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health, Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Duncan Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Fritts was born May 16, 1934, in Davidson County, to David Thomas Fritts Jr. and Edith Conrad Fritts. He was former founder and operator of Tom’s Recapping and 4 Wheel Drive. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He had a love for the land and farmed most of his life. Along with his dad, he dug many graves for Davidson, Piedmont and other funeral homes in the county. He enjoyed collecting glass jars and cooking the Men’s breakfast at this church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his loving wife, Johnnie Lou Green Fritts of the home; sons, Dennis Ray Fritts, David Thomas Fritts IV and wife Alisa, all of Lexington; daughters, Wanda Jean Sink and husband Mark of Lexington and Linda Shaw; grandchildren, Steven Sink and wife Jami, Phillip Sink, Thomas Fritts, DaLisa Fritts, Craig Fritts and wife Cara, Nickolas Fritts and fiancé Kayla, Michelle Kirk, Stephanie Rackley, Amy Hedrick and Christy Tolson; great-grandchildren, Grayson Sink, Britt Sink, Abby Fritts; and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Fritts and wife Rebecca of Lexington; and sisters, Mary Ann Fritts and Edith Gray “Shorty” Thomason and husband Robert, all of Lexington.
