Tommy Hill Black

August 9, 1967 — January 19, 2025

Tommy Hill Black, beloved husband, father, and valued member of the Lexington community, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, January 19th, 2025, at the age of 57. He was born on Wednesday, August 9th, 1967,  to Donald Hill Black and Donna Lynn Sharpe Black. Tommy was a lifelong resident of Lexington, NC, where he built a life surrounded by friends, family, and the natural beauty he cherished.

Tommy was the loving husband of Sandra Black, with whom he shared many joyful years building a life together filled with laughter, love, and friendship. He was survived by his wife; two  children, Matthew Black (Emily) and Samantha Black; his sister Margie Black; and 2 grandchildren, Clayton and Daniel.  Tommy took great pride in his family's accomplishments and was  a constant source of guidance and support.. He was preceded in death by his father.

A dedicated Grounds Keeper for the City of Lexington, Tommy took immense pride in his work. He was responsible for maintaining the beauty of the community's public spaces, ensuring that the cemetery, parks and recreational areas were enjoyed by all. His commitment to his work reflected his love for nature and his desire to create a welcoming environment for everyone in his community. He was a member of the NC Wildlife Association and the NRA, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a handyman, jack of all trades.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Thursday January 23, 2025 at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Dr. Mike McDaniel. The family will receive friends  3:00 pm to 4:00 pm Thursday prior to the service. The family has requested for those that attend services to please dress casual.

Tommy's legacy will live on in the lives he impacted, the memories he created, and the beautiful landscape he helped nurture. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Davidson County Hospice 200 Hospice Way Lexington NC 27292.
