Tommy Shaw Clark Sr.

Tommy Shaw Clark, Sr. age 79, of East U S Highway # 64, Lexington, NC retired First Sargent with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, died Saturday, January 11 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 15 at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ conducted by Rev. Darrell Sluder. Burial with full honors by the North Carolina Highway Patrol will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence. Mr. Clark was born April 5, 1934 in Hoke County to Neill Archie Clark and Etta Currie Clark. Tommy married his lifelong love, Eva Rae Swing on June 28, 1959. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ and was a former member of Davis Townsend Lions Club and Woodman of The World. He began his career with the North Carolina Highway Patrol in Robbins, NC in 1958. While stationed in Robbins he was a member of The Robbins Rescue Squad where he served a Captain for many years. In 1978 he was promoted to Line Sergeant and moved to Pleasant Garden. In 1987 he was promoted to First Sergeant and finished his career, retiring in Siler City in 1988. After retirement he moved to Lexington and while still having the call of helping people on the road, he operated a wrecker service with his son at Holly Grove Chevron. He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister Betty Knox and brothers Graham, Howard, Hilton and Bill. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eva Rae Swing Clark of the home; sons, Tommy (Tee) Clark, Jr. and wife Melanie of Holly Springs, Neil Clark and wife Terri of Lexington; grandchildren, Nick Clark, Megan Clark, Alexis Street, Kendall Clark, Anna Clark and David Clark; sister, Pauline Morganson of Avon, Indiana; special nephew, Steven Knox and daughter Katelyn Knox. Tommy loved his family and especially enjoyed traveling across the Country in his motorhome with his wife and grandchildren. His favorite destination was Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach. He will be greatly missed by his Grand Dog “Little Bit” who enjoyed many rides with him on the golf cart. Memorials may be made to Mt.
