Lowell “Tommy” Hunt, 93, of Davidson County, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church in Thomasville, with Pastor David Bowman officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall, where desserts will be served in honor of Tommy’s well-known sweet tooth.
Born on June 30, 1932, in Davidson County, Tommy was the son of the late Alvah Lee Hunt and Ruth Shaw Broos. He lived a vibrant and active life, known for his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and feeding birds. Tommy had a special talent for growing trees and a deep appreciation for country music, dancing, and the Senior Games, where he often showcased his athletic spirit. He enjoyed racing and especially enjoyed taking drives in his beloved 1962 Ford Fairlane. He was a faithful supporter at his granddaughter’s volleyball games—she was truly the apple of his eye.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Michael Hunt (Jill) and Rickey Hunt; his cherished granddaughter, Emma Grace Hunt; his brothers, Jim Broos (Mary Neal) and Jeff Broos (Kaye); his sister, Connie Hackett; his special cousin, Sheila Ward (Tim); and his dear friend and companion, Brenda Potts, along with her family, who meant so much to him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Liberty Baptist Church, 225 Liberty Ave., Thomasville, NC 27360.
Tommy will be remembered for his kind spirit, love of life, and the joy he brought to those around him.
