Tommy Claude Owen, Sr.

October 10, 1934 — November 27, 2023

Mr. Tommy Claude Owen Sr., 89, passed peacefully at the Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington, NC on Monday November 27th, 2023.  He is survived by his loving wife Loretta Owen of 68 years.  He was born in Lexington, NC on October 10th, 1934 to the late Odell Owen and Alma Owen.

Tommy graduated from Lexington Senior High School, Class of 1953. He attended DeVry Institute in Chicago, Illinois where he studied Electronics.  Following school he worked for Piedmont Propane Gas for 36 years. Tommy was a long time member (79 years) and Elder Emeritus of Meadowview Presbyterian Church.  He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, woodworking, and being outdoors.  He volunteered for many years delivering meals on wheels in his community.

He went through life filled with a humble goodness that was apparent to everyone that knew him, and served as an example of unconditional love, strength, character, and integrity that his family, friends and community will continue to aspire to.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Foy Owen, Macks Owen, Kenneth Owen, and his sister Fay Michael.

Left to cherish the memory of his beautiful life in addition to his wife are his children Tommy Owen Jr., Lindsay Owen (Karen), Gina Thomas (Radford), Danny Owen (Charlotte), Amanda Cobb (Rick). His grandchildren Nicolas Owen, Emily Owen (Jonathan), Brandon Owen (Patricia), Kassi Hooper (Cliff), Maggie Peduto (Nicholas), Hunter Owen, Tyler Thomas, Dennie Thomas, Abigail Cobb, Alex Cobb and his great grandchildren Isabelle Owen, Benjamin Owen, Olivia Owen, Forrest Owen, Patrick Peduto, and George Hooper. As well as his siblings Glenn Owen, Linda Garwood, Doug Owen (Pat), Hazel Cockerham, Kay Atwell, Foster Owen and Brother in Law David D. Hedrick “Chub” (Shelby).

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Meadowview Presbyterian Church with Pastors George Sayour and Rick Cobb officiating.  Visitation with family and friends will be held from 12:30 until 2pm at the church.

The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of Davidson County and the staff at the Hinkle Hospice House for the comfort, care, and compassion provided to Tommy and his family during his final days on this earth.
