Tommy Ray Shoaf

April 10, 1944 — February 20, 2021

Tommy Ray Shoaf, age 76, of Midway passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Welcome conducted by Pastor Mark Blair. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Shoaf was born April 10, 1944 in Davidson County to Thomas Osco Shoaf and Ida Sowers Shoaf. Growing up, he attended Midway United Methodist Church. He attended North Davidson High School; and Wake Forest University before transferring to High Point University where he later graduated. Following, he worked for the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of High Point, with a focus on the handicapped, developmentally disabled, and senior adult population. Mr. Shoaf retired after 31 years in 1997 but continued developing and managing rental properties. Tommy was a devoted husband and father. He loved to be out and about with his family attending ball games, church programs, and fundraisers. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. Mr. Shoaf was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Mae Smith, Elizabeth Carter, and Hazel Marsh; and two brothers, Lonnie Shoaf and Roy Lee Shoaf.

Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Cynthia Stewart Shoaf of the home; a son, Thomas William Shoaf of the home, two sisters, Frances Rothrock of Midway and Margie Van Hoy (Larry) of Mooresville; a brother, Robert G. Shoaf (Sue) of Midway; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Welcome or Midway United Methodist Church.
