Tony Joe Hanes

November 4, 1954 — October 19, 2021

Tony Joe Hanes, 66, of Southmont, transitioned to heaven on Tuesday October 19, 2021.

His funeral will be officiated by Reverend Pablo Ayllon on Monday October 25 at 1:00 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel located at 301 N. Main Street, Lexington, NC 27292.  Visitation will begin right after the service in Parlor D and last until 4:00.  Please wear a mask while in the building.

Tony was a lifelong resident of Davidson County.  He grew up in Reedy Creek and later moved to Southmont. He graduated from North Davidson Senior High School and retired from R J Reynolds.  He was the son of Joe Junior Hanes and Dorothy (Dot) Bowers Hanes, who both have passed on to Glory.  His sister is Shelby Hanes Hedrick (husband David Hedrick) of Lexington and his nephew is Joshua Hedrick of Charlotte.  His wife of 48 years is Wendy Hanes.

Tony was a wonderful husband and was kind, loyal, patient, understanding, forgiving, hardworking, and unselfish.  He had many friends and would do most anything for them.  He liked being outside and enjoyed saltwater and freshwater fishing.  He had a tender heart for animals especially dogs and was “human dad” to seven of them throughout the years.  He was especially fond of Golden Retrievers.  His current Golden is still searching the house for him.
