Tony Hunt of Lexington passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. James Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Hunt was born Dec. 10, 1941, in Davidson County to Grady Walter Hunt Sr. and Lala Clodfelter Hunt. He was of the Baptist faith. Tony was the most caring and fun-loving person you could ever meet. He never met a stranger, and after talking to him five minutes, you had a friend. He loved animals and daily fed stray cats. So if you see a lost animal, feed it and think of Tony. Tony also was active in both men's and women's softball, coaching the ladies' Piedmont Racing slow pitch and most recent the men's Davidson Auto Salvage Junk Yard Dogs. Tony also enjoyed playing pool.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Hunt Moore, who died October 2010.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rachel of the home; daughters Kelli McPhail and husband Norman of Roseboro and Ronda McCandless and husband Ronnie of Stokesdale; son Anthony "Buster" Hunt-Upton and wife Susan; five grandchildren; and many other family members. All of Tony's friends are special, just to name a few friends, Ira, Georgia and Zack Leonard and Angie Curry.
