Tony Clifton Swicegood

Tony Clifton Swicegood, a beloved resident of Concord, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on Friday, January 23rd, 1948, Tony was a cherished father, loving granddaddy, dedicated community member, and distinguished veteran.

Family, friends, and the community are invited to celebrate Tony's life at a memorial service on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, NC. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Snider Cemetery in Lexington, NC, with a burial and committal service at 12:00 pm.

Tony graduated from West Davidson High School in 1966 and furthered his education at Rowan Tech, which paved the way for his career as a skilled machinist at Tube Tex. His commitment to precision and hard work was evident in his professional life and honored by his colleagues and friends.

A proud veteran, Tony served diligently in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His honorable service earned him numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device (VCM w/60 Device), Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster (ARCOM w/OLC), Air Medal, and two Overseas Service Bars (2 0/S Bars).

Tony was deeply embedded in his community, contributing his time and leadership talents to the Churchland Volunteer Fire Department. He not only served as a volunteer but also took on significant responsibilities as a member of the Board of Directors, ultimately holding the esteemed position of President of the Board.

Throughout his life, the most important work he was known for was farming. Tony loved his farm and spent his days growing crops and taking care of his cattle. He worked hard through every season, knowing both the land and his animals relied on him.

Tony was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clifton Clarence Swicegood and Mary Louise Swicegood as well as his beloved chocolate lab, Coco.

He leaves behind his legacy through his devoted sons, Craig Swicegood (Katherine) of Kannapolis, NC, and Michael Swicegood (Melissa) of Linwood; sisters, Janie Sink (Gary) of Thomasville, and Susan Richardson (Danny), of Kernersville; four grandchildren, James Carlton Swicegood, Lillyanne Claire Swicegood, Maxwell Christopher Swicegood, and Daniel Clifton Swicegood; and mother of his children, Nancy Parnell Swicegood.

Arrangements have been thoughtfully provided by Davidson Funeral Home. Tony's spirit, dedication, and love for his country and community will be remembered and honored by all who knew him.
