Troy Curtis Lankford, 55, of Davidson County, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Rev. James Messer officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the funeral home.
Curtis was born on September 24, 1969, in Davidson County, to Gloria Edwards Morrison and the late Troy Lankford. From a young age, he had a gift for woodwork and carpentry, as he was taught the craft by his father. This skill was sharpened and later became his profession in the construction field. He was the owner and operator of C & E Construction and is remembered as being excellent with numbers, materials, and anything else having to do with carpentry.
Curtis loved camping, fishing, and being outside. He enjoyed watching racing, wrestling, and football. Sports were an integral part of him, and he was quick to root for the Dolphins and the Tarheels.
The most important area of life for Curtis was his family. His love as a husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, and friend was a shining light he exuded just by being present. He never met a stranger and was a great person to have in one’s corner. Curtis demonstrated that love by being fiercely protective of his family and spending quality time with each and every one. This was displayed by hanging out with his sons, being there for his wife and daughter, and going to have dinner with his mom every Tuesday.
His quick wit, sarcasm, and great sense of humor will be a comfort for those who remember and tell his stories.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Left to carry on his legacy is his loving wife, Teresa, of the home; mother and stepdad, Gloria and Jerry Morrison, of Lexington; sons, Troy Lankford (Madeline), of Lexington, Jaelan Newsome, of Lexington, and Eric Shore (Melissa), of Lexington; daughter, Haley Coleman (Cory), of Lexington; grandchildren, Hayden Leerick, Jameson Trayce Lankford, and Adiemae; sisters, Angie Hughes, of Thomasville, and Joann Houghton (Jess), of IL; brother-in-law, Tommy Gunter (Billie); nephews, TJ Rebello (Nicole), Michael Rebello, and Harley Gunter; niece, Courtney McElroy; great-nephews, Charlie Gunter, Maverick Gunter, and Everest McElroy; great-nieces, Emma Rebello, and JoJo Gunter; and a host of extended family and friends.
Curtis truly was one of a kind.
