V Karen McMahon

Karen McMahon—born Virginia Karen Payne in Bluefield, Tazewell County, Virginia, on November 19, 1942—passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by family. She was 83 years old. Karen will be remembered for her extraordinary typing speed, the books she authored, her love for cats, and as a caring mother and friend to those who knew her. Karen is survived by her two daughters, Candace Dawn Jenkins and Heather Noelle McMahon, as well as two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur and Gladys Ruth Lester Payne, and her six siblings.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the Alderwood/Hospice of Davidson staff and all who supported Karen McMahon during her final days.
