Vada Bowers Essick

Vada Bowers Essick, age 82 of Ridge Road, Lexington passed away Tuesday, September 16 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Sticht Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 19 at Pilgrim Reformed Church with Rev. Barry Surratt and Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Reformed Church Cemetery. Mrs. Essick was born in Davidson County July 23, 1926 to Earlie Foil Bowers and Lula Everhart Bowers. She was a member of Pilgrim Reformed Church, taught Sunday school and a member of the Ida Conrad Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Dewitt Essick, Jr. February 16, 2008, and two sisters Ollie Young and Lonnie Marr. Surviving are: one son; Roger Dale Essick of Lexington, one daughter; Vicki Essick Lemly and husband Calvin, two grandchildren; Tammy Lemly and Calvin Eugene “Gene” Lemly, four great-grandchildren; Lauren, Dylan, Selenia and Whitney Lemly. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday night at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at the home of Vicki and Calvin Lemly, 1330 Ridge Road, Lexington.
