Vance Yokeley

Gerald Vance Yokeley, age 88 of Midway Community passed away Saturday morning, August 26, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House. A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2017 at New Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob McLawhorne officiating.  Vance was born in Davidson County, son of the late Ivey C. Yokeley and Dora Hege Yokeley. Vance graduated from High Point College and completed dairy courses at NC State. He spent 42 years with Coble Dairy serving in many capacities, the last 10 years as Assistant General Manager. He served several terms on the N.C. Milk Commission, President of NC Cooperative Council and served 12 years as Director with Seco Dairy of Deland, Florida. After retiring he operated Eagle Hill Farm with his wife, raising Red Angus cattle. Vance was a devoted member of New Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, served as President of the Methodist Men and served on the cemetery committee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Beam Yokeley; son, Gerald and his wife Barbara and grandchildren Michael Jill and Will Yokeley. Surviving are his son, Miles Yokeley and wife Paulette; daughter, Nancy Young and husband Doug; grandchildren, Brian and wife Leah, Tye and wife Jody, Diana Nelson and husband David, Brad Mayhew and wife Anna; great-grandchildren, Lynette, Madelyn, Anna Beth, Roslyn, Mason, Bryson, Chase, Alana, Noah, Myra, Eden and Caroline.
