Vaughn Gibby

Vaughn Everett Gibby, 96, of Lexington, died Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Lexington Health Care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Pilgrim Reformed Church where he was a member, by the Rev. Richard Moore. Burial will follow with military honors by the Davidson County Honor Guard in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 prior to the service in the church parlor.

Vaughn was born June 19, 1925 in Bryson City, NC to Donald Harrison Gibby and Margie Magnolia Monteith Gibby. He was retired from McLean Trucking was a member of the VFW Post 3074, and was a proud veteran having served in the US Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Bobby Gibby and brothers, Hugh Gibby and Golda Gibby.

Left to cherish his memories his wife of 70 years, Joanna Thomas Gibby of the home; her sons, Don Gibby (Tammy) of Lexington; Gary Vaughn Gibby of the home; grandchildren, Bradley, Matthew, Jason, Chris, and Meredith Gibby, two great-granddaughters, Nicole and Abby Gibby, one brother, Ray Gibby of Bryson City, NC; sister, Nell Stanley of Bryson City, NC.

In lieu of flowers, family has asked that memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
