Velna Beck

Mrs. Velna Hilton Eddinger Beck, 92, of New Bowers Road, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 27 at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, by the Rev. William Sowers. Burial will follow in the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Gay Farrell, 24 Vance Circle, Lexington. Mrs. Beck was born September 9, 1919 in Davidson County to Kearney Lorenzo Hilton and Sophronia Ball Hilton. She was a member of Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed quilt making and had been active in the Davidson County Home Extension Club and Hedrick’s Grove Women’s Circle. She was married to Clarence Reid Eddinger, who passed away in 1946. In 1950, she married Charlie Lee Beck, who also preceded her in death, as well as her brothers, Bernie Hilton and Leighton Hilton, and her sisters, Oleita Ball and Lois Sue Cranford. She is survived by her son, Billy Reid Eddinger and wife, Jonell, of Lexington; her daughters, Sybil Eddinger Koonts and husband, Will, and Gay Eddinger Farrell, both of Lexington; her brother, Wilfred L. Hilton of Thomasville; her grandchildren, Reid Eddinger and wife, Diane, Sean Farrell, Tracie Anderson and husband, Kevin, Brian Michael Koonts and wife, Meredith, and Jill Anderson, and husband, Carter; and her great-grandchildren, Brandi Eddinger, Austin Eddinger, Kinsley Caroline Anderson, Beckham Anderson, Molly Hilton Koonts, Jacob Michael Koonts, Jessica Farrell and Tristan Farrell. Memorials may be made to the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2876 Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville NC 27360.
