Vera Trexler Penninger

Vera Trexler Penninger, 89, of Linwood Southmont Road, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at Brian Center of Lexington. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jersey Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Michael Collier, Rev. Morris Hollifield and Dr. Roy J. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Penninger was born in Davidson County on April 29, 1919, to William Kola Trexler and Annie Hedrick Trexler. She was a cook for the Davidson County School System. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Percy and Bryan Trexler. Mrs. Penninger was married to Charles Harold Penninger, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, Nelson Penninger and wife, Teresa, of Lexington; a daughter, Phyllis Willis and husband, John, of Lexington; four grandchildren, Carl Willis and wife, Melissa, Amy McLamb and husband, Dan, Charlie Willis and wife, Lori, and Celeste Penninger; two great-grandchildren, Mattie Paige Willis and Sara Ruth McLamb; a brother, Zack Trexler; four sisters, Dorothy Kesler and husband, Jack, Eugenia Kayser, Aline Lyon, all of Lexington, and Lucy Haynes of Tega Cay, S.C.; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Trexler and Hollis Trexler, both of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church fellowship hall and other times at the home on Linwood Southmont Road. Memorials may be made to Jersey Baptist Church, P.O.
