Verna Sue Daniel

Verna Sue Hames Daniel, 96, of Eighth Street, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at her home following declining health of six years. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by the Rev. Brian Alexander. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Daniel was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Rutherford County to Burl Lee Hames and Minnie Freeman Hames. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church and retired cloth inspector for Erlanger Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Roby Daniel. Surviving are two sons, Mike Daniel and his wife, Brenda Clinard Daniel, of Kernersville and Tommy Daniel and his wife, Debra Koonts Daniel, of Churchland; four grandchildren; a brother, Frank Hames of Greenville, S.C.; and a sister, Helen Rogers of Lexington. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Betty Pollard, Barbara Brown and Geraldean Jordan. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
