Vernon Delano Canady, age 70 of Sherwood Road, Lexington died Monday, December 14, 2009 at his home after declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 17, 2009 at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with Pastor Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Canady was born August 1, 1939 in Rockingham County to James Alvis Canady and Mary Williams Canady. He was retired from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, where he was a Driver’s License Supervisor for 42 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8, N.C. Umpire Association and Coached Women’s Softball for 25 years. Vernon was of the Baptist faith and was a Veteran of the US Army.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Coleman Canady of the home, daughters, Angela Canady Ennis of Lexington, Kim Canady Clapp and husband, Kenny of Reidville; a Beloved granddaughter, Jacalyn Ennis, grandchildren, Jordan Lamberth, Kara Lamberth, brothers, Alvis Ross Canady, Ronald Franklin Canady both of Reidsville, sister, Mildred Canady Pryor, Minnie Canady Martin both of Reidsville, a special mother-in-law, Pearl Coleman of the home and brother’s and sister’s in-laws.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
