Vernon Darr

Andrew Vernon Darr Sr, 84, of Eastside Drive, died Saturday, November 12 at Lexington Medical Center.    A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, November 17 at First United Methodist Church, by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe.  Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.   Mr. Darr was born June 11, 1932 in Davidson County to Lewis Vernon Darr and Viola Walser Darr.  He retired from Lexington Telephone Company and was a member of First United Methodist Church.  He was a veteran of the US Army and a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite.  His son, Andrew Vernon “Andy’ Darr, Jr.; and his sister, Martha Beane, preceded him in death.    He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Betty Lawrence Darr of the home; his daughters, Andrea Darr of Winston Salem, and Anda Darr Pressley of Lexington; his sister, Lib Lohr of Lexington; his grandchildren, Melissa Darr Payne, Charles Andrew Darr, Megan Pressley, and Adam Pressley; and his great grandchildren, Ava Grace Payne and Alden Payne.   Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
