Vernon Lamorureaux

Mr. Vernon Westcott Lamoureaux, 93, of Avondale Drive, died Wednesday, October 17 at the Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20 at Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Jay Belk. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Mr. Lamoureaux was born March 15, 1919 in Schenectady, NY to Louis and Ella Mathias Lamoureaux. He was a graduate of Purdue University and served as Second Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II. He was involved with the YMCA for many years and retired as executive director in Lexington. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Marie Swanker Lamoureaux; his son, West Lamoureaux and wife, Peggy, of Lexington; his daughter, Marie Lamoureaux and husband, Barry Winston, of Hillsborough; his grandchildren, Ellen Marie Calderone, Marc Aaron Lamoureaux, and Alex Palmer; and four great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association-Western NC Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte NC 28215; Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, 100 Western Blvd, Lexington NC 27295; or to Davidson County Senior Services, 555-B West Center Street Extension, Lexington NC 27295.
