Vernon Neal Rainey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vernon Neal Rainey, who departed this world on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on Monday, May 18th, 1959, in the quaint town of Sturet, FL, Vernon later made his home in Lexington, NC, where he became a beloved member of the community.

Vernon dedicated much of his life to his work as a skilled forklift driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and attention to detail. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply cherished by family and friends for his warm heart and his generous spirit.

He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his sons Byron Hyde, wife (Tia), Ryan Rainey, Weston Hyde, and Logan Hyde, wife (Kourtney), his daughter Lela Rainey, and the mother of his children, Lori McDonald, brother Barry Rainey; and his sister Leaetta Rainey, 6 grandchildren and special friend, Luke Campbell. Vernon was a family man through and through, and he took immense pride in his children, treasuring every moment spent with them.

Vernon is preceded in death by his dear father Vernon Rainey, beloved mother Dortha Rainey, and sisters Lela Loraine Rainey and Karen Simon. They are undoubtedly reunited now in eternal peace.

Arrangements for Vernon Neal Rainey's funeral have been respectfully entrusted to Davidson Funeral Home, services will be held in honor of his life and legacy at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 13, 2025 at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, visitation of family and friends will be immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice to continue the legacy of kindness and generosity that Vernon exemplified during his lifetime.

He will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
