Vickie Lynn Beck Gantt passed away September 21, 2025 at her home in Lexington, NC. Despite living a healthy lifestyle, pancreatic cancer took us by surprise. After a brief but courageous three-week battle, she went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Her journey on this earth was filled with love, purpose and unwavering faith.
Vickie was born on January 3, 1954 to Donald L. and Juanita T. Beck. She graduated from North Rowan High School in 1972. From there she went on to work at Eric Anders where she met, fell in love, and married John “Rod” Gantt on June 29, 1979. Vickie had a passion for dance and both taught and took classes for many years. She spent the majority of her career working at Davidson County Community College where she met and inspired many special friends. She retired after 20 years and devoted her time to her family.
Vickie was a passionate supporter of her children and grandchildren, never missing a game, meet, performance or program, always cheering them on with so much pride. Vickie selflessly spent her time making sure everyone else was taken care of whether it was taking someone a meal, going to appointments, or packing a cooler for an event. This brought her so much joy and happiness. She also enjoyed putting together and sharing puzzles and being a good neighbor everyone could count on.
Vickie had a life marked by love, dedication and service. She modeled her Christian faith not only in words, but through daily acts of kindness, generosity, and self sacrifice. She gave freely to her family, friends, the church, and her community. She had a special gift for making others feel seen and loved. Whether through her faithful card ministry, her warm hospitality, or her ability to plan and carry out the perfect party or holiday gathering, she poured her heart into everything she did. Her kitchen was always filled with smells of home - cooking and baking were her love languages and her recipes will be treasured for generations.
Vickie is preceded in death by her father, Donald L. Beck and her beloved uncle, Warren L. Beck.
She is survived by her husband John “Rod” Gantt, beloved daughters Amanda Gantt and Emily Simerson (B.J.) and her grandchildren Kynley and Blakelyn Simerson. She is also survived by her mother Juanita Beck and sisters Donna Bryant (Ted) and Pat Sechler along with many nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Judy Beck. Though we grieve she is no longer with us on this earth, we rejoice in knowing she is pain free, dancing with Jesus and reunited with those who have gone before her.
We celebrate a woman who had a tremendous impact on so many lives. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and compassion that will live on in all of us. Vickie’s funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday September 30, 2025 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, Lexington NC., with Rev. Randy Foster officiating services. Burial to follow at 2:30 pm at the National Cemetery in Salisbury NC.
The family will receive friends 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday just prior to the service.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Davidson County for their dedicated and loving care over the last three weeks.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Vickie to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
