Vickie Bates Mann

Vickie Bates Mann, 73, of Davidson County, passed away Friday morning, January 9, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 PM.

Vickie was born on May 16, 1952, in Davidson County, to the late John Bates and Helen Huffman Bates.

Vickie found joy in the simple pleasures that filled her days, especially working on word searches and spending hours immersed in jigsaw puzzles, always relishing the challenge they offered—so much so that she even framed some of her completed favorites. Music brought light to her spirit, and no artist made her smile quite like Bruno Mars, whose songs often had her dancing with pure happiness and carefree delight. She was known for her quick wit, her unmistakable sense of humor, and her wonderfully blunt honesty, which gave her a genuine, unforgettable personality that people couldn’t help but love. True to her nature, Vickie always made sure she had the last word, a trait that brought laughter and warmth to those who knew her and will forever be remembered as part of her unique charm.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Bryce Mann, one brother, and seven sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Wendy Mann, of Thomasville, and Heather Alexander (Brent), of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Chelsey Mann, Shaan Lawrence, Teja Mann, Brooklyn Mann, Bryson Alexander, and McKenna Alexander; and one great grandchild, Beckham Isaiah Bryce.
