Vickie Matthews White

Vickie Kanzady Matthews White, age 86, entered peacefully into the immediate presence of her Lord on August 24, 2025. Vickie was born September 22, 1938 to the late Addison David Matthews and Bessie Burton Stonestreet Matthews. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Hugh Adam White, in 2021 after sixty-four years of marriage and devotion. Vickie was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Matthews, half-sister, Helen Stonestreet, and a half-brother, William (Dub) Stonestreet.

Vickie is survived by two loving daughters; Donna White Freeman (Roland) and Terri White Kimball (Mike), four precious grandsons; Barrett Freeman (Shelley), Addison Kimball (Katie), Lee Michael Kimball, and Stewart Freeman, along with several dear great grandchildren. She is survived by a special niece, Carol Stonestreet.

Vickie was a 1956 graduate of Griffith High School. Throughout her career she held various positions. Her longest and most enjoyable being guidance secretary at Parkland High School, Anderson High School, and the Career Center. Above all, family was at the center of her life. Vickie and Hugh worshiped and served in many churches in the Winston-Salem area. She was most recently a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where she faithfully served her Lord in the music ministry, quilt ministry, senior adult ministry, and other areas. Vickie dearly loved her church family, special neighbors, and friends at Creekside Terrace.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10 am at Grace Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior. Committal following at Parklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Grace Baptist Church Music Ministry, 3305 Peters Creek Pkwy Winston Salem NC 27127.

The family would like to extend deep thanks to Dr. Panneer Manickam and staff for their loving care over these many years. In addition, thanks to Creekside Terrace and Brookridge Rehab for their tender care over her last years on earth.
