Vida Vanhoy Stabler, 95, of North Leonard Road, Lexington (Welcome Community) passed away Thursday afternoon at Forsyth Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday (April 24, 2011) at Center Untied Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury officiating. Burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Vida was born in Stanley County, October 10, 1915, to Lee Vanhoy and Rhoda Lambert Vanhoy.
She was a homemaker, a member of Center United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Powell Way Stabler in 1981; and two sisters Orabelle Thomason and Rachel Grubb.
Surviving are three sons, Mark P. Stabler and Gregg W. Stabler and wife, Glenda, all of Lexington and Brent A. Stabler and wife, Kathy, of Thomasville; one daughter, Sherry S. Lanier and husband, Bill, of Lexington; five grandchildren, Shelly Lanier, Jamie Stabler, Brooke Hutchins, Megan Hill and Emily Hooper; three great-grandchildren, Blake Simmons, Seth and Cole Hutchins.
