Virginia Ola Holbrook Combs, 72, of W. 5th Avenue, died Saturday, March 23 at Hinkle Hospice House after declining health of one and a half years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Tommy Helpler. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on W. 5th Avenue.
Mrs. Combs was born August 10, 1940 in Davie County to Archie Clay Holbrook and Bonnie Holbrook Pinnix. She retired from Dixie Furniture after 34 years of service and enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her yard. She attended Leonard Road Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her second husband, Clallan Ray Combs; her son, Bobby Clay Long; her step-daughter, Kathy Combs; her step-son, Donnie Combs; and her sister, Marie Long.
She is survived by her son, Buddy Long and wife, Francine, of Denton; her daughter in law, Sue Long and companion, Ray Senkus; her step-sons, Joel Combs and Lawson Long, Jr; her step-daughters, Cathy Long and Pat Coulter; her brothers, John Holbrook of Lexington and Roger Pinnix of Spencer; her sisters, Mary Smith and Eula Holloman, both of Lexington; ten grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staffs of Hospice of Davidson County and Forsyth Medical Center, Ninth Floor, and Dr. Charles Pippitt of Forsyth Cancer Center.
