Virginia Hughes Gerlach, 81, of Old Highway 64 West, died Friday February 7, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 12 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel
Mrs. Gerlach was born December 21, 1932 in Anderson County, KY to Albert Hughes and Lorraine Smith Hughes. She retired from Mrs. Hanes Cookie’s and was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George Elmer Gerlach Jr.
Surviving are her son, Richard Cloran and wife, Wanda, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; her daughters, Debra Smith and husband, Robert, and Brenda Cotton and husband, Alton, both of Lexington; her sisters, Edith Gatewood of Kentucky, Mildred Bailey of Indiana, and Alice Hoon of Florida; her grandchildren, John Michael Blair, Jr., Lorann Schmidt, Emily Swaney, Sara Cotton, and Shannon Smith; and her great grandchildren, Robert Michael Blair, Dana Lynn Blair, and Gray Swaney.
