Virginia Jackson Mason

Virginia Jackson Mason, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Reny Fisher officiating. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome followed by a 1:00 pm burial at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A repass will take place directly after the burial at the home of Craig Mason, 247 Caitlin Lane, Lexington, NC 27292.

Virginia was born January 21, 1945, in Rustburg, VA to the late Withers Payne and Fannie Jackson Payne of Rustburg, VA. Virginia was a devoted member of Bolling Chapel in Washington DC. She was a retired childcare provider. Her passions were her faith, church, family, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling all over the world, playing bingo, cooking, and baking. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be missed by all. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Withers Jackson, Larry Jackson, and William Jackson, also her sisters, Bernice Jackson, Alice Payne and Shirley Roberson.

Left to cherish her memories along with her mother is her husband, Gerald William Mason, sons, Jerry Mason, wife Nicole, of Lynchburg, VA, and Craig Mason, of Lexington, NC, daughter, Tammi Gatling, and her husband Charles, of Concord, NC.  Her brothers; Kenneth Jackson, Lawrence Jackson, Gerald Jackson, Harold Payne, James Payne, and Benjamin Payne, sisters; Mary Sue Haynes, Geraldine Douglas, LaVerne Jackson, Connie Ritter, and Christine Warrick, nine grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
