Alice Virginia Lee Owen, 87, of Winston-Salem, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after three months of declining health. A private family graveside service will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Cynthia Arnold. Mrs. Owen was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Davidson County to Fred Wilson Lee Sr. and Elizabeth Alice Grubb Lee. She was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church and a retired employee of the Lexington City Schools. She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred W. Lee Jr. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Cuther Elza Owen of the home; two daughters, Reeta Owen Duffey of Lewisville and Kay Spell Fagan and her husband, William E., of Evans, Ga.; three grandchildren, Brett Terill Duffey of Winston-Salem, Dr. Jade Christopher Spell and his wife, Lori, of New Market, Md., and Jamie Patrick Spell of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Brett Terill Duffey II of Winston-Salem and Bethany Ava Spell of New Market, Md.; two stepgrandchildren, Karen Hatch and her husband, Brian, of Delaware and William H. Fagan and his wife, Lori, of South Carolina; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Savannah Hatch, Austin Hatch, Wil Fagan and Blake Fagan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Linwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 82, Linwood, NC 27299, or to Hospice and Palliative Care Centers of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. This loving, giving, caring woman is now walking "In The Garden" with her eternal Savior.
