Virginia “Tootsie” Bean Owen, age 69, of Brookstone Nursing Home formerly of Pinetop Road, Lexington died Saturday in Brian Center Nursing Home after 16 months of declining health. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2009 at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with Rev. Michael McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Owen was born October 2, 1939 in Davidson county to Archie Lee Bean, Sr. and Nona Beatrice Davis Bean. An employee of Yaborough’s Restaurant, she was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Howard Macks Owen in 1994. Surviving are her son, Larry Macks Owen of Lexington, four grandchildren, Jon Owen, Derek Owen, Megan Owen, Joseph Owen and four grandchildren; five brothers, Archie Lee Bean, Jr. of Lexington, Willie “Billy” Bean of Southmont, Bobby Steve Bean, Gary Wayne Bean of Fries, VA, Johnny Nelson Bean of Denton and a sister, Effie Sue Bean Forrest of Lexington. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday and other times at the home.
