Virginia Barker Passmore

Virginia Barker Passmore, beloved mother, faithful servant of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, and cherished member of her community, peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Hinkle Hospice House. She was surrounded by the love of her family and the compassionate care of Hospice of Davidson County.

A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where Pastors Jeremy Benbrooks and Frankie Matthews will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.

Born on March 11, 1942, in Davidson County, Virginia was the daughter of Charles Winberg Barker and Bessie Paige Barker. Throughout her life, she exemplified unwavering devotion to her family and faith. Virginia's love and dedication knew no bounds, as evidenced by her lifelong commitment to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where her spirit found solace and community.

Virginia was a beacon of strength and love, known for her gentle spirit and nurturing presence. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Phillip Travis Passmore, Jr., as well as by her brothers, Charles Winberg Barker, Jr., and Franklin "Buddy" Barker, and sisters, Geneva Lanning, Kate Christopher, Dixie Thomason, Helen Jarrell, Dorothy Overcash, and Nancy Caughron.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted son, Mark Travis Passmore, who lovingly cared for her throughout her life's journey. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Weaver, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she deeply adored.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church or Hospice of Davidson County, organizations that held special significance in Virginia's life.

Virginia Barker Passmore will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the profound impact she made on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, in the arms of her Savior.
