Virginia Shoaf

Mary "Virginia" Myers Shoaf, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

A funeral service will be held the following day, Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at Friendship Church – Lexington, 2840 Friendship Church Rd. Lexington, NC 27295, with Rev. Steve Hardy and Rev. Tony Medlin officiating.

Burial will conclude services in the church cemetery.

Born on June 15, 1932, she was the youngest of eleven children born to the late James William Myers and Anna Mae Snider Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin granddaughters, Jana and Elizabeth; and her beloved husband, James Carlton Shoaf, Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began when she was just sixteen years old. Together, they celebrated an extraordinary 75 years of marriage in January 2024.

Virginia was a faithful member of Friendship Church – Lexington, where her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully served the Lord, loved her church family, and lived each day as an example of kindness, generosity, and compassion.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Virginia's greatest joy was caring for her family. She lovingly supported her husband in the co-founding of Shoaf Precast in 1966, serving as the company's secretary while also preparing lunches and snacks for the employees, making everyone feel like family.

Virginia will long be remembered for her remarkable gift of hospitality. She found great joy in preparing meals for those who were sick or grieving, always serving others with a loving heart. Her homemade Red Velvet Cakes and Pound Cakes became treasured gifts that friends eagerly anticipated on birthdays and at Christmastime. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

Nothing brought Virginia greater happiness than having her family gathered around her table. Every Tuesday evening, she lovingly prepared what was often described as a Thanksgiving feast, bringing together generations of her family for food, fellowship, and cherished memories. She also enjoyed gardening and faithfully preserved the fruits of her labor each summer to provide for her family throughout the year.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jimmy Shoaf and wife, Betty, Dennis Shoaf and wife, Donna, and Donna Barney and husband, Dean; her grandchildren, Scott Shoaf and wife, Stephanie, Brad Shoaf and wife, Jill, Phillip Shoaf and wife, Elizabeth, Clint Shoaf and wife, Hannah, Andrew Barney and wife, Valerie, and Anna York and husband, Matt; her great-grandchildren, Taylor Wall and husband, Chase, Tyson Shoaf, Connor Shoaf, Carlee Shoaf, Maddox Shoaf, Luke Shoaf, Addison Shoaf, Carter Shoaf, Colton Barney, Elyse Barney, Lilly York, and Clara York; her great-great-grandchildren, Capri Wall and Tate Wall; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Virginia's devoted caregivers, Kathy Rice, Alice Byerly, Diane Walser, Zoe Byerly, Mona Griffin, and Pam Duncan, for the exceptional love, compassion, and care they provided throughout the years.
