Virginia Dorsett Whittington

Virginia Dorsett Whittington, 77, of Conrad Hill Mine Road, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House, following an illness of one year. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Dr. Keith Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mrs. Whittington was born March 21, 1937, in Harnett County, to Winfred Steven Dorsett and Beulah Summey Dorsett. She was retired from Kayby Mills where she had worked in the packaging department. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Keith Whittington. Surviving are her daughter, Pam Burkhart and husband Phillip of Lexington; granddaughter, Caroline Burkhart; and sisters, Diane Crouse and husband Wayne, Gladys Houser, Evelyn Fritts, all of Lexington, and Peggy Hunt and husband Owen of Trinity.
