Vivian Potts Briggs, 88, of Briggstown Road, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at her home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Beck’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dave Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service in the church parlor and other times at the home of her daughter, Bonnie King, on Briggstown Road.
Mrs. Briggs was born January 21, 1923, to Ernest Ray Potts and Ida Harvey Potts. She was a retired seamstress from Lucia Inc. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus York Briggs in 1999; grandchild, Rhonda Dowd; a brother; and three sisters.
Surviving are a son, Walter Ray Briggs and wife, Margaret, of Lexington; daughters, Bonnie King and husband, William, Pat Towery, all of Lexington, and Terri Groves and husband, Vaughn, of Raleigh; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dot Greer and Ruth Gallimore and husband, Sam, all of Lexington.
