Vivian Cecil Underwood, 103, of Lexington Health Care, formerly of Fairview Drive, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the nursing home after a brief illness.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel, Thomasville, where she was the oldest member, by the Dr. Ivan Peden and Rev. Peggy Finch. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Underwood was born June 18, 1904, in Davidson County, to John Richard Cecil and Eliza “Molly” Yarborough Cecil. She was a retired claims adjuster for the United States Social Security Administration. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Order of the Oak at Elon University. Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Grady Underwood who died April 15, 1950.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Underwood of Alexandria, Va.; sisters-in-law, Hazel Morris, Elizabeth Cecil, both of Lexington, and Patra Cecil of Charlotte; cousin, Phyllis Leonard of Lexington; niece, Nancy Haley of Lexington; and other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Davidson Funeral Home.
