W. Leonard Hunsucker

W. Leonard Hunsucker, 73, of Riverside Drive, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Second United Church of Christ, where he was a member, by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Mr. Hunsucker was born in Randolph County on Feb. 12, 1933, to Wilbert Bradley Hunsucker and Pansy Everhart Hunsucker. He retired from Union Carbide and served in U.S. Navy on the USS New Jersey during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Catawba College with a degree in accounting. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Raleigh Elizabeth Hunsucker; and a brother, Donald Hunsucker. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Anita Swing Hunsucker of the home; one son, L. Mark Hunsucker and his wife, Tina, of Greensboro; one daughter, Penny Thomson and her husband, Mike, of Lexington; four grandchildren, Daniel Hunsucker, Emily Hunsucker, Zach Thomson and Lucas Thomson; and one brother, Jerry Hunsucker of Ocean Isle. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home on Riverside Drive. Memorials may be made to Second United Church of Christ, 330 N. Church St., Lexington, NC 27292.
