Wade "Reedy" Varner

Wade "Reedy" Lee Varner, Jr., age 84, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

He was born January 2, 1941, in Davidson County to the late Wade Lee Varner, Sr. and Willie Grace Garrison Varner. Mr. Varner was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of family and devotion to The Lord Jesus. Wade was a beloved husband, father, and paw paw. When he was able, he attended church faithfully. He loved fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. Wade and Gail loved to travel and had many great vacations over their 63 years together.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Varner, Bill Varner, Freddy Varner, and Roger Varner (who was raised as their son); and his sisters, Annie Brooks, Mary Thomason, Libby Varner, and Phyllis Varner.

Surviving are his loving wife, Linda Gail Varner, of the home; sons, Robert Varner, Eddie Varner (wife Billie Jo), and Steven Varner; and sister-in-laws, Carrie Ann Fulbright and Marie Franke (Ronnie), and George Robertson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Greene and Pastor Ray Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at Davidson Funeral Home.
