Wallace Slaydon, 72, of Early James Road, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at his home.
A celebration of life will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the fellowship hall of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
Mr. Slaydon was born May 6, 1941, in Surry County, to Johnny Morgan Slaydon and Alice Draughn Slaydon. He was self employed as a welder and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Tyro. Mr. Slaydon was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on automobiles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Ralph Slaydon; and sisters, Thelma S.Walker, Mary S. Amato, Bertha S. Allen.
Surviving are his companion Rosa Voegele of the home; son, Johnny G. Slaydon of Lexington; daughters, Lisa S. Jones and husband, Damon and Sheila A. Slaydon, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Chelsea J. Cline and husband Jake and Emily Ann Slaydon; great-grandchild, Brayden L. Cline; sisters, Janie S. Livengood, Betty S. Reich, Samira S. Wood and husband Lynn, all of Lexington; special nieces and nephews; and extended family, Kailee Barr, Lisa Archer, Megan Young, and Mack Greer.
The family extends a special thank you to Hospice of Davidson County for the loving care given to Mr. Slaydon during his illness.
