Walter Gene Junkins

Walter “Gene” Junkins , 84, of S. Hargrave Street, died Monday, August 07, 2017, at Clapp’s Nursing Home in Asheboro.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor  J.C. Miles, Revs. Wayne Knight and Darcy W. Abbott officiating.   The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm just prior to the service at the church.   Mr. Junkins was born October 14, 1932 in Anderson, SC to William Clarence Junkins and Effie Livinia Williams Junkins.  He was a retired employee of Lexington Furniture with the Henry Link Plant and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Preceding him in death was his wife, Pansy Avery Junkins, May 24, 2017, a brother William “Billy” Clarence Junkins, Jr. and four sisters, Evelyn Livinia Junkins Smith, Edna Lee Junkins Powell, Hazel Viola Junkins Gunner and Mary Helen Junkins Brewer.   Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Sue Abbott (Darcy) of Silver Spring, MD; three grandchildren, Darcy J. Abbott (Betsy), Paul Jason Abbott (Laura), Benjamin James Abbott (AnaMaria), seven great grandchildren, and a sister, Betty Louise Junkins Bean of Lexington, NC.   Memorials may be directed to First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1448 E.
