Walter Alvin “Abby” Koontz, 67 of Weaver Road passed away Thursday, April 2 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday (4-5-2009) at Reeds United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gary Foster officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery in Welcome.
Walter was born August 22, 1941 in Davidson County to Emanuel Whitson Koontz and Sarah Jane Elverson Koontz. He was a retired machinist with Lacy Miller Machine and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy H. Koontz in 1993, two sisters, Pauline Lomax and Mildred Snider and one brother Robert Koontz.
Surviving are: one son, Rodney A. Koontz and wife Deborah of Lexington; two daughters, Angela K. Craver and husband James of Welcome and Lisa K. Chrisley and husband Johnny of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Shaina Craver, Tiffany Craver, James “Abby” Craver, Britany Koontz, Morgan Koontz, Taylor Chrisley, Ali Chrisley, and David Chrisley; three sisters, Edna Morgan, of Salisbury, Arlene Hedrick of Tyro and Carol Burkhart of Lexington,; three brothers, Jack Koontz of Cleveland, NC, Gray Koontz of Churchland and Melvin Koontz of Rockwell, NC
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, Saturday night from 6 until 8 pm, and at other times at the home.
