Walter Lee Leonard

Walter Lee Leonard, 71, of Shelly Leonard Road, died suddenly, Wednesday June 17, 2009, at his home. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, (6-20-2009) at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Cope officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Leonard was born July 12, 1937, in Laurens County, South Carolina to Fred Lee Leonard and Bertha Sykes Leonard. He was retired from Stanley Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Robert Leonard, brothers, Charles, Hulen, O’Conner, Fred and Richard Leonard and sisters, Odessa Walls, Lula Morphis, Grace Colson and Thelma Briggs. Surviving are his daughters, Melinda Humphrey and husband, Eddie, of Lexington and Cynthia Daniels and husband, Robbie ,of Welcome; granddaughter, Michell Curtis and husband, Marc, of Chapel Hill; great-grandson, Roland Curtis; brother Jerry Leonard of Ocean Isle, NC; and a sister, Gladys White of Welcome and his former wife Gladys Lovett Leonard Holmes of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of daughter, Cynthia Daniels on Shelly Leonard Road, Lexington.
